Photo project enters second phase
Photo and video crews are traveling around the state to capture the essence of who WEAC members are and in what they believe.
Connie Scantlin, a 2nd-grade teacher and primary literacy coordinator at Kate Goodrich Elementary School in Merrill, helped with the efforts when the crew stopped at her classroom. Some of the images captured in Scantlin's classroom, along with others, will be used in an upcoming public awareness campaign called “I believe.”
This is the second phase of the project, which will build a library of pictures, video and audioto put a real face on the heroes of public education. The most recent production shoots were conducted in five media markets: Madison (Royal Oaks Elementary School, Sun Prairie); Milwaukee (Maple Dale School, Glendale); Wausau (Kate Goodrich Elementary School, Merrill); Green Bay (West High School); and Eau Claire (Lakeshore Elementary School).
The third phase will collect images from other areas of WEAC's membership.
“WEAC is a member organization, so it only makes sense that we feature members in our literature and in our communications,” said Kim Haas, WEAC public relations director, in announcing the project last spring.
