Two state teachers selected to attend national peace institute

Two Wisconsin teachers were among 17 in the nation selected to participate in a conflict resolution workshop hosted by the United States Institute of Peace (USIP) in Washington, D.C. (July 20 - August 3, 2007). Jim Johnson, a National Board Certified social studies teacher at Auburndale High School, and Audrey Damon-Wayne of McFarland High School attended the workshop, which featured international experts on regions of conflict such as the Middle East and North Korea. Research about these areas and the role of the United States was presented, along with instruction on how to give students an understanding of the peace process and how to teach conflict resolution skills. Pictured in the back row are Johnson (second from left) and Damon-Wayne (sixth from left).
