discipline
improves with sage
Teachers and adminstrators agree there are fewer discipline
problems in SAGE classrooms. Teachers point to less noise in a SAGE classroom
as a major reason for the change.

"The class seems more like a whole," kindergarten teacher Michelle
Sabistina says. "We have a good group, not a lot of problems and
it works out well. It's easier to get to know all three kindergarten classrooms
this year."
"You can stop bad behavior," 3rd grade teacher Susie Hunsicker
says. "The noise level is the difference. I can pay attention to
problem students now. I'm not doing crowd control any more."
Second grade teacher Laura Bares says a quieter classroom decreases behavior
problems and distractions.
"Fewer kids are doing their own thing," she says. "There's
less time to waste academic time. Less fighting goes on because fewer
kids are there."
Kindergarten teacher Kristi Nash says classroom discipline is not a problem.
"I have the sweetest class ever," Nash says. "There's great
behavior."
Nash had one student who transferred from a non-SAGE school. The boy
had behavior problems at his former school.
"When he came here, not a single problem," Nash says. She credits
the small class size for the lack of discipline problems.
