The statutes (s.115.30(2)) authorize the department to
collect information about schools and students.
1. Student Data - Schools participating
in the SAGE program will be required to collect, maintain, and report
student demographic and family income data and academic achievement information
to document achievement of objectives, to provide information necessary
for calculation of aid and for the purposes of the required program evaluation.
Any student-level or individually identifiable data collected for the
purposes of the program will be maintained in accordance with the confidentiality
provisions in state and federal law.
2. School Program Data - For purposes of
the SAGE evaluation, research staff may visit and observe classrooms;
interview students, school staff, and community members; and review records
and documentation maintained by participating schools to demonstrate compliance
with the program requirements.
