Nea Foundation Offering Grants To Members With Big Ideas
The NEA Foundation is seeking proposals from WEAC/NEA members for three
grant programs. Innovation Grants and Learning & Leadership Grants
are available for all subjects, including the arts, literacy, science,
and technology, while Read Across America grants are being offered to
public schools who serve economically disadvantaged students.
All members who are practicing K-12 public school teachers, education
support professionals or higher education faculty and staff at public
colleges and universities are encouraged to apply. The foundation awards
grants of up to $5,000.
The Read Across America Library grants are new to the program and are
intended to help schools purchase books for their libraries.
The foundation accepts applications on a year-round, ongoing basis.
Educators who submit proposals by September 15, 2005, will know if their
grants are approved by February 15, 2006. The grants fund activities
for 12 months from the award dates.
The grants are funded in part by the Staples Recycle for Education
program, which has raised more than $2.5 million for public schools
since 2003.
