Kohl Educational Foundation Selects 100 Teachers For Fellowships

The Herb Kohl Educational Foundation has selected 100 Wisconsin teachers for its 2005 fellowship program, which honors outstanding educators. Each recipient will receive a $1,000 cash prize, and his or her school will receive an additional $1,000 grant.

A selection committee chose fellowship winners based on their ability to inspire a love of learning in students, motivation skills and for their leadership and service inside and outside of the classroom. Fellowship recipients were notified of their award by mail on March 1.

The Wisconsin Newspaper Association, Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction, Wisconsin Council of Religious and Independent Schools and the Cooperative Educational Service Agencies co-sponsor the Kohl fellowship program.

U.S. Sen. Herb Kohl established the program in 1990. The foundation has since awarded $5.2 million to Wisconsin educators, students and schools.
