127 High School Seniors Are Named All-State Scholars
Public and private high school principals throughout the state nominated
665 seniors for consideration in the All-State Scholars program. A representative
committee chose 127 winners from the nominees.
The scholars will receive the Robert C. Byrd federal honors scholarship
of $1,500 which may be renewed for an additional three years if the student
maintains satisfactory enrollment with their chosen college.
Selection of the All-State Scholars was based primarily on students'
overall high school grade-point average and ACT or SAT scores. Judges
also considered student statements, extracurricular activities, and leadership.
Sponsors for the All-State Scholars program include WEAC, the Association
of Wisconsin School Administrators' Wisconsin Foundation for Educational
Administration, Wisconsin State Journal, and the Department of Public
Instruction.
