Representative Assembly Embraces Continuation of Great Schools
Delegates to the 2000 WEAC Representative Assembly
embraced the continuation of the Great Schools initiative, and approved
a 2000-2001 budget containing plans and funding for it.
Every child has the right to attend a great
public school, according to a resolution supporting Great Schools
adopted by the RA. To assure that opportunity, the members of the
Council must solicit parent and community involvement to enhance public
support for and maintain the quality of Wisconsins public schools.
WEAC President Terry Craney said the initiative
enjoys widespread support.
Great Schools is a bold plan which will
shape the future of public education in the 21st century, he told
delegates. It is a statewide effort to increase citizen involvement
in public schools, to make every school a great school. The Great Schools
project is based on these three fundamental beliefs: quality, involvement,
and support.
