National University offers National Board Certification courses
Posted: 2/2/2012 3:15:30 PM
National University offers three Master’s Degree Programs that carefully embed the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards certificate tools, processes and requirements related to earning National Board Certification. (National University does not certify teachers as NBCTS.)
National University offers graduate coursework that parallels the NBCT process and NBCTs are employed as adjunct faculty to provide expertise and experience in using the NBPTS Core Propositions and Architecture of Accomplished Teaching in their work with students. National University also provides high quality support for candidates who are pursuing certification as active candidates in the process.
The most popular program is the Master of Arts in Teaching with NBC Teacher Leadership Specialization, followed by the Master of Science in Instructional Leadership and the newest program, Accomplished Collaborative Leadership. Each of these programs is built on the fundamental values defined by the National Board Core Propositions. Course schedules for these programs are uniquely designed and potential students must be approved by the NBCT Lead Faculty to enter the program upon review of the predetermined schedule, knowledge of the NBCT process and timelines, and knowledge of cohort groups in their region.
At this time, March cohorts are forming. Go to the NU-PTDC site to read about the program and to RSVP to be added to the cohort list for your identified group.Your RSVP will trigger “next steps” to send you additional information or to speak with you directly and to connect you with NU admissions advisors who will discuss the graduate application and financial aid process and procedures. Online meetings are also available to get more details and to ask questions directly.
Once 15 students are committed to start the program as scheduled, the cohort is filled and each student will earn a 15% discount on the current graduate level tuition for each course.
The deadline for the March cohort is February 20. For more information, call or email Ronarae Adams, NBCT and PTDC Program Director and Lead Faculty: radams@nu.edu or 858- 642-8352.
