Video contest promotes alcohol and drug crisis line

Posted: 9/23/2009 9:33:27 AM

mPower, an under 21 alcohol and drug crisis line, has launched a video contest that will award one grand prize winner with a $2,500 scholarship toward further education. Southeastern Wisconsin teens and young adults between the ages of 15 and 20 are encouraged to participate.

Entrants must develop a 30-to-60-second video portraying how mPower’s crisis line can help them, or a friend, tackle a tough drug or alcohol-related crisis situation. In addition to the scholarship, the winning video will be posted on YouTube and on www.mpowersupport.com.

mPower’s hotline offers teens and young adults the support and assistance they need during an alcohol or drug-related crisis situation. Users can text or call the hotline when they need help, with trained experts available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to provide guidance for teens on what they need to do to get out of a crisis safely. Teens can feel comfortable knowing they can remain anonymous in non life-threatening situations.

The contest ends January 15, 2010. For full details on the contest and the grand prize award of a $2,500 scholarship, please visit www.mpowersupport.com/video.
