WEAC, UW celebrate teamwork in education with Kickoff Kids

The Wisconsin Education Association Council (WEAC) has formed a partnership with the University of Wisconsin athletics that will celebrate outstanding students from across the state during UW Badger home football games.

One WEAC Kickoff Kid age 8-13 will be recognized via a public address and video board announcement during the first quarter of each of seven home games. The students will receive tickets to a designated game, pre-game access to the field, retrieve the tee after the opening kickoff, and get an autographed item signed by head coach Bret Bielema.

“WEAC believes strong communities depend on their schools, and schools depend on teamwork and a commitment to public education,” WEAC President Mary Bell said. “That is why we are proud to be a sponsor of UW athletics.

“It takes teamwork to ensure student success – whether in athletics or in the classroom. Talented and caring teachers, outstanding school staff, parents who are involved, and supportive communities create a winning team for Wisconsin students,” Bell said.

“We are pleased to continue our corporate partnership with WEAC,” said Justin Doherty, UW’s assistant athletic director for external relations. “The Kickoff Kids program is a great fit for our organizations to work on together. We look forward to hosting the many lucky recipients of this fun and unique Badger Football experience.”

WEAC invites families, teachers and school staff from across the state to tell us why your student stands out in your community or your school and should be a WEAC Kickoff Kid for Badger home games.
