| Recertification results send a clear signal! Recertification election results came in this week for locals that opted to recertify under new rules imposed by the governor and his followers in the state Legislature - and overwhelmingly they were successful!
"The overwhelmingly positive results send a clear signal to Governor Walker that his divisive approach to governing and his cuts of $1.6 billion to schools do not reflect Wisconsin values," WEAC President Mary Bell said. "As a union, our members will stay united as a voice for educators, students and schools, as we continue to focus on the upcoming recall election."
Recertification means that a local which gained such status is the official bargaining representative for the district. For all educators in Wisconsin it's important to remember this: No piece of legislation can keep you from joining a union. Your local, UniServ and state affiliation continues to strengthen your advocacy for students by helping us all stand together. Recall Walker: Events in your area

Governor Walker is wrong for Wisconsin, and his extreme agenda attacking schools and public education employees shows that he doesn't share our priorities.
Here are some other ways to Reclaim Wisconsin - Recall Walker!: - Share your story: The 'tools' aren't working. Did you know that a recent survey of school administrators shows that nine out of 10 students across the state are in a district that reduced staff? Walker's cuts are having an impact: You can't cut $1.6 billion from public education and not hurt students. They stood with us when our rights were under attack and now it's our turn to return the favor to our private-sector peers. All workers - public and private sector alike - deserve a voice in the workplace, but Manitowoc Crane has reversed course on more than 60 years of a productive labor/management relationship by attempting to slip in contract language that would eliminate its workers' voice on the job.
The language is the private sector equivalent to what Governor Walker pushed in Act 10 - requiring costly "recertification" votes of the union every year. Manitowoc Crane workers voted 180-2 to reject this attack and went on strike.
We knew that private sector employers would be emboldened by Walker's attacks on workers' rights. This Saturday, stand up for them by standing in solidarity with the workers at Manitowoc Crane.
