Voters approve 13 school referendums, reject five

Voters in nine communities last week (February 20, 2007) approved 13 school district referendums totaling $101.5 million. Five referendums worth about $104 million were defeated, according to data collected by the Department of Public Instruction.

Greenfield voters approved the largest amount, totaling $42.2 million for two referendums to expand and remodel the high school. However, Green Bay voters defeated two referendums totaling nearly $95 million to build and maintain a new high school.

Voters passed referendums in Bangor ($5.5 million and $690,000); Brillion ($1.4 million); D C Everest ($4 million); Greenfield, ($4.35 million and $37.8 million); Little Chute ($1 million and $9.7 million); Oostburg ($9.8 million); Pardeeville ($2.4 million); Seymour ($9.9 million and $150,000); and Sun Prairie ($14.6 million).

Voters defeated referendums in Adams-Friendship ($2.3 million); Green Bay ($25.9 million and $69 million); Kewaunee ($1.1 million); and Wisconsin Heights ($5.6 million).

Another 36 school referendums worth $336 million are on the ballot in April.
