Gov. Doyle appointed Cuene to the 13-member board in May 2003. Last
fall, she appeared before the Committee on Higher Education and Tourism
before moving ahead for confirmation by the Senate.
"I'm excited to have the opportunity to serve the state in this
capacity," she said. "Because of my experience as a teacher
for 16 years, political activism, and involvement with WEAC, I have
a background that will bring new depth to the board."
Cuene said the board is currently working on the WTCS's role in Gov.
Doyle's Grow Wisconsin initiative, which focuses on job creation.
Board members are developing ideas to improve the quality of manufacturing
and technology job training, she said.
Cuene's four-year term will expire in May 2007.
