Future Teachers Take Home 11 National Awards

The Student Wisconsin Education Association won 11 national awards from the Student Leadership Conference in Los Angeles, California.

Student WEA members are WEAC members that attend state and private colleges and universities and are studying to be teachers.

Over a thousand Student WEA members engaged in organizing activities that benefited their colleges and universities, K-12 schools and their communities. Members also attend professional conferences and leadership trainings sponsored by WEAC and the NEA.

The following awards and their recipients from Wisconsin are as follows:

Local Awards:

  • Outstanding Local Newsletter-Wisconsin Lutheran College and Cardinal Stritch University
  • Outstanding Local Advisor-Maggie Beeber, University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point
  • Outstanding Local Leader-Elisha Writt, University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point
  • Outstanding CLASS Project-University of Wisconsin-Green Bay & University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point
  • Outstanding Local Excellence-University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point

State Awards:

  • Outstanding CLASS Promotion
  • Outstanding State Newsletter
  • Outstanding State Leader-Caryn Peters
  • Outstanding State Organizer-Nancy Clark
