TSA Program is One of a Kind

By Scott Culver

Starting a retirement plan can be a daunting experience. Hundreds of companies and thousands of investment options make an already difficult decision more complicated.

WEAC members, however, have access to a retirement program created exclusively for them. The WEA Trust’s tax-sheltered annuity (TSA) program is unique in many ways in today’s financial landscape:

  • We designed our TSA program with your needs in mind. For example, we understand that young teachers may not have much discretionary income. So, we let you start a TSA for as little as $200 per year, or about $10 per paycheck.
  • It is a not-for-profit TSA program. We’re not out to make money for ourselves. That means your money is not used to pay commissions to salespeople or to create glitzy advertising campaigns. It also does not go into the pockets of any stockholders. That’s not our style. Our mission is to help you make money and achieve your financial goals.
  • Our TSA program helps you with retirement planning every step of the way. We have dedicated retirement consultants on staff who can help you start a TSA and can assist with devising an investment strategy that reflects your needs and tolerance for risk.
  • We put a premium on educating members on the importance of investing for retirement by presenting information in a straightforward, unbiased way. Our retirement consultants hold seminars around the state on different aspects of TSAs. A list of current topics and locations is posted on our Web site – www.weatrust.com.
  • As a program created for members, the Trust keeps its costs for service expenses minimal and discloses all fees upfront. You will find no hidden fees or surprises when putting your money into an account or taking it out.
  • Our TSA program offers a variety of investment choices under one roof, giving our members ample opportunity for diversity and access to socially responsible funds. Many of the funds we offer are not otherwise available to Wisconsin public school employees in a TSA. They are accessible only through us.
  • We also offer a Guaranteed Investment that has traditionally offered one of the highest interest rates in the state, compared with similar investments. For 2001, interest on the Guaranteed Investment is compounded daily to yield 7.5%.
  • Our TSA program ensures that each participant has access to unbiased financial counseling, contribution-limit calculations, and extraordinarily low fees. In effect, we go the extra mile to make sure you’re on the right financial path.
  • While many outlets offer TSAs, the Trust is the only vendor created to satisfy the unique needs of public education employees in Wisconsin.
