WEAC Recommends Butler for Supreme Court
The Wisconsin Education Association Council is recommending Judge Louis
Butler, Jr., for Wisconsin Supreme Court.
The recommendation follows interviews with candidates and a statewide
ballot of WEAC members.
Judge Butler is a highly respected and experienced candidate
who will be an effective member of the Supreme Court, WEAC President
Terry Craney said. He is a strong supporter of public education
and public educators. He will provide some needed diversity of background
to the court.
Butler is currently a municipal court judge in Milwaukee. He has held
that position since 1992.
Butler has experience as an appellate attorney and trial lawyer with
the State Public Defenders Office. He was an adjunct assistant
professor of law at the Marquette University Law School and has been
a lecturer in criminal law for the past 16 years.
