Alan Jacobs Gets Top Job at WEA Insurance
On August 1, Alan Jacobs succeeded Terry Herndon as the CEO of the WEA
Insurance Corporation and as the executive director of both the WEA Insurance
Trust and the WEA Tax Sheltered Annuity Trust.
The planned transition was approved by the Board of Trustees of WEACs
insurance program almost a year ago after Herndon announced plans to retire
from his leadership role in the organization.
Jacobs has a long history in the WEAC family. He began his career as
a mathematics teacher with the Oshkosh Public School District in 1968
and served the Oshkosh Education Association in various capacities including
roles as president and negotiator.
Jacobs began his career with the WEA Insurance Trust in 1978 as a field
representative and was promoted to the position of director of benefits
administration in 1982. Since the creation of the WEA Insurance Corporation
in 1985, Jacobs has served in progressively more responsible roles including
vice president, executive vice president, chief operating officer, and
president.
Herndon will continue as a consultant to Jacobs and to all the boards
of the WEA Insurance Group through July 1999. At that time, Russ Denk,
president of the WEAC Member Benefit Trust, will become CEO of that Trust
and its subsidiary, the WEA Property and Casualty Insurance Company.
