Board Begins Search For New Director

The WEAC Board is expected this month to appoint a search committee to find a successor to Charles Lentz as executive director of WEAC. Lentz announced in July that he will leave this fall after five years of heading the organization.

“Chuck has made many contributions to this association,” said WEAC President Terry Craney. “He brought a new style of leadership to WEAC and has launched a number of initiatives that will help carry us into the 21st century.”

The committee hopes to have a new executive director in place by next spring. Don Krahn, director of WEAC’s Legal Division, has been appointed deputy executive director, and as such will coordinate the transition to a new director.

Lentz came to WEAC in 1992, succeeding Morris Andrews, who retired after serving as WEAC’s executive secretary for 20 years. Lentz worked for many years at the Minnesota Education Association. Prior to joining WEAC, he was executive director of the Idaho Education Association for eight years.
