New Study Documents Revenue Cap Pain
A new study confirms what teachers and school officials have known for
years state-imposed revenue controls are causing major problems
for Wisconsin schools.
The new study by the Institute for Wisconsins Future also reflects
the results of three similar studies conducted by WEAC and the Wisconsin
Association of School District Administrators.
Of the 800 public school principals who responded to the IWF survey,
87% said revenue controls are causing financial difficulties for their
schools.
Among other things, they have cut programs and increased fees for classes
and extracurricular activities.
Forty-two percent reduced or eliminated summer school, 43% reduced or
eliminated the purchase of computer equipment, 35% cut after-school activities,
and 33% reduced or eliminated programs for at-risk children.
