Blair-Taylor, Baraboo Teachers Win National Awards

Teachers from Blair-Taylor and Baraboo have won Presidential Awards for Excellence in Science and Mathematics teaching. The awards were presented June 19 in Washington, D.C., to:

  • Faye Hilgart, a math teacher at Blair-Taylor Middle School in Taylor.
  • Karen Mesmer, a science teacher at Baraboo Middle School in Baraboo.

They were among 107 secondary school teachers honored. The program is administered by the National Science Foundation. Winners receive an award signed by the president, and their schools receive grants of $7,500.
