Even though he’s only in middle school, Butler Middle School student Trevor Rothschadl has volunteered countless hours to help kids he will most likely never meet. Thanks to a nomination by his father, a WEAC member and teacher at Tonawanda and Hillside Elementary Schools, Trevor was on the field of Camp Randall Stadium for the October 15 UW Badgers game, as part of an opportunity provided by the Wisconsin Education Association Council (WEAC).
Trevor was the fifth WEAC Kickoff Kid in the partnership between the University of Wisconsin and WEAC. Trevor saw player warm-ups and introductions, waved to the crowd on the scoreboard during the first quarter and ran onto the field to retrieve the tee after kickoff.
Phil Rothschadl nominated his son for his work on engaging Waukesha County in donating shoes to children in need. “Trevor helped encourage students from his school, his 4H Club, and the county of Waukesha to donate shoes for Soles4Souls,” said Mr. Rothschadl. “He collected approximately 3,000 pairs of shoes, the second-highest amount from the Milwaukee area,” said Mr. Rothschadl. The shoes are given to local students in need as well as children from around the world. “Even after the shoes were collected and shipped, he collected shoes at the Waukesha County Fair,” said Mr. Rothschadl.
Trevor was joined on the field with his parents.
