Partnership will raise visibility for nation’s teachers

From the NEA

The National Education Association (NEA) has announced a partnership with The National Teachers Hall of Fame (NTHF) to strengthen efforts to honor the nation’s teachers and raise the profile of the teaching profession among the general public.

The NEA, through the NEA Foundation, provided a grant of $25,000 to the NTHF and will honor the 2012 inductees to the Hall of Fame during National Teacher Appreciation Week (May 6-12, 2012). NEA leaders will join the NTHF Board of Trustees and have a representative serve on the national selection committee.

“The National Education Association is proud to support The National Teachers Hall of Fame in honoring outstanding Pre K-12 teachers throughout the nation,” said NEA President Dennis Van Roekel.

The NTHF http://www.nthf.org/ was founded in 1989 by Emporia State University, the ESU Alumni Association, the City of Emporia, Kansas, Unified School District 253, and the Emporia Area Chamber of Commerce. The NTHF is committed to drawing the public’s attention to exceptional PreK-12 teachers through a museum and recognition program, which honors the nation’s most outstanding PreK-12 educators each year. The NTHF is the only organizatiom of its kind dedicated to recognizing career teachers, to preserving and promoting education, and to serving the nation by inspiring others to enter the teaching profession.
