West Allis student Breanna Adkins is a role model whose choices benefitted everyone in her school, even though she’s only in middle school. Thanks to a nomination by her mother, a WEAC member and teacher at Irving Elementary, Breanna was on the field of Camp Randall Stadium September 24 the UW Badgers game, as part of an opportunity provided by the Wisconsin Education Association Council (WEAC).
Breanna, a middle school student at Lincoln Intermediate, was the third WEAC Kickoff Kid in the partnership between the University of Wisconsin and WEAC. Breanna saw player warm-ups and introductions, and waved to the crowd on the scoreboard during the first quarter.
Susan Adkins nominated Breanna for her work on anti-bullying. “Breanna spent hours writing inspirational messages on Post-It notes,” said Ms. Adkins. “She placed one on every 7th-grade locker, and it changed the attitude of the day. Students wore the notes on their shirts, and the 8th grade class started doing the same for their lockers,” said Ms. Adkins.
Breanna was also joined on the field with her parents.
