Forums on TABOR Held in Six Communities
The Wisconsin Council on Children and Families sponsored six
educational forums this winter titled The Trouble with TABOR (the Taxpayers
Bill of Rights). The forums focused on the potential impact of TABOR on
the quality of life in your community and on children and families in
Wisconsin. All citizens were invited to attend.
The forums were in La Crosse December 8, Fond du Lac December 14, West Allis January 11, Cleveland January 25, Eau Claire February 8, and Green Bay February 15.
TABOR is a proposed amendment to Wisconsin’s Constitution that
would severely restrict the ability of local governments and the state
government to raise funds necessary to maintain quality services. It
is being advocated by some powerful legislators. Opponents believe TABOR
would threaten the quality of our schools, child protective services,
care for seniors, universities and technical schools, parks, libraries,
roads and the quality of life in our state. For coverage of these forums and more information about TABOR, visit the OnWEAC Resource Page on Tax Gimmicks
The WCCF

research and advocacy for the well-being of children and families in
