UPDATE: Voters decide school referendum questions

Voters in at least a dozen Wisconsin school districts approved referendum questions Tuesday, allowing districts to build new schools, continue programs and exceed revenue limits.

Here are the results of Tuesday’s school referendum votes, according to the state Department of Public Instruction and news reports:

APPROVED:

  • Darlington Community (two questions: $3.5 million over five years to exceed revenue limits and $2.075 million for capital projects)
  • Eau Claire Area ($51.85 million for additions; demolition; repairs and renovations; acquiring equipment and furnishings; and making related site improvements at Robbins, Putnam Heights and Sherman elementary schools and DeLong Middle School)
  • Ellsworth Community ($3.9 million over three years to exceed revenue limits)
  • Fort Atkinson ($2.082 million over three years to exceed revenue limits) 
  • Glendale-River Hills ($2.4 million over four years to exceed revenue limits)
  • Highland ($275,000 to exceed revenue limits for one year) *Another question in Highland failed
  • Howards Grove ($3.4 million for maintenance and technology upgrades)
    Medford Area ($10.6 million to pay the cost of constructing and equipping an addition to the high school to provide a pool and gymnasium and related remodeling and site improvements)
  • Mondovi ($1.5 million to pay the cost of school district building improvements including roof, boiler and asbestos floor tile replacement and refinancing two loans issued for roofing projects)
  • Nicolet UHS ($10.75 million over five years to exceed revenue limits)
  • Poynette ($1.285 million for the cost of making improvements and replacements to upgrade security, safety, technology, electrical and lighting and to address the water run-off issues at the Poynette 1-8 and high school buildings; adding office space, converting old office space to classroom space and related demolition; and making improvements to upgrade the security and energy efficiency at the high school)
  • Princeton ($900,000 over three years to exceed revenue limits)
  • Sevastopol ($1.7 million over two years to exceed revenue limits)
  • Shorewood ($13.645 million to refinance the debt issued to finance the district's contributions to WRS; and funding the cost of other post-employment benefits)
  • Spencer ($3.375 million over five years to exceed revenue limits)
  • Tomorrow River (Total $1.75 million over five years to exceed revenue limits)
  • Washington ($346,700 to exceed revenue limits for one year)
  • Weston ($575,000 to exceed revenue limits for one year)
  • Wisconsin Heights ($850,000 over two years to exceed revenue limits)

FAILED:

  • Eau Claire Area ($3.9 million to acquire a building and site for an early learning center)
  • Glenwood City ($6 million for improvements to school district buildings, facilities and grounds)
  • Highland ($535,000 for capital projects) *Another question in Highland was approved
  • Johnson Creek ($29.235 million to build a new 4K-12 school building)
  • Linn J6 ($3.9 million for repair, replacement and improvement projects to Reek Elementary School)
  • Luxemburg-Casco ($4.9 million to construct and equip gym; fund related site improvements; and relocate and reconstruct soccer field)
  • Monroe ($8 million over four years to exceed revenue limits)
  • New Glarus (two question: $85,000 for new construction at the middle/high school on a recurring basis and $10 million for an addition to middle/high school, new gymnasium/auditorium to middle/high school, addition to the grade school/renovations to grades school and middle/high school)
  • Omro (two questions: $600,000 over three years for technology and curriculum upgrades and $1 million for maintenance improvements)
  • Racine (three questions: $10 million over 10 years  to increase the district's fund balance; $83.5 million to construct and replace five elementary schools and renovate and add to five existing elementary schools; and $35 million over seven years to continue educational programs previously funded by federal stimulus funds and to fund staff and programs at new and updated elementary buildings)
  • River Falls ($38.86 million for construction, remodeling, technology, safety updates, and energy efficiency)
  • Rosendale-Brandon ($5.7 million over four years to exceed revenue limits)
  • Southern Door County ($1.25 million over two years to exceed revenue limits)

    Um, yeh, make that 28 as Sevastopol School District in Door County is also seeking referendum dollars.
