The Marinette High School Band, directed by Tim Yontz, has won the honor of performing at this year's Orange Bowl Parade December 28 in Miami.
The band is one of 12 to perform in the nationally televised event.
The 175-member band was selected by the Orange Bowl Committee based on an application, photograph and videotape of the band in action.
A contingent of 243 people will make the trip, leaving by bus on December 26. Participants include members from the high school wind symphony, symphonic and concert bands. Students will be accompanied by their directors - Yontz, Michelle Dura, and Ruth Maguire - as well as some parents and family members.
Keeping in line with the parade's theme of "Amazing Americas," the Marinette band will perform "New World Symphony" by Anton Dvorak.
While in Florida, band members plan to tour Bayside Market Place, Coconut Grove, Disney World and the Kennedy Space Center. (Photos provided by Tim and Brenna Yontz.)
