Gloria Ratkowski of Clement Avenue Elementary School penned a Dr. Seuss-inspired poem which children read during an all-school assembly to special guests gathered for the kick off of Read Across America.
Welcome to Clement Avenue School!
You are here, we are, too.
Clement wants to welcome you!
You will like our school, you’ll see.
Our school is great, you will agree.
We like our teachers a whole bunch.
Why here we even like hot lunch!
We learn our words, from A to Z.
And numbers to infinity!
There’s science, social studies, art –
Music, gym, we’re really smart.
But wait, we learn lots more you know.
Things not in books that help us grow.
We learn to laugh, and be a friend,
Oh, yes there’s more, that’s not the end!
We learn to think. We learn to share.
We learn respect. We learn to care.
That’s why we think our school is great.
And so will you, just you wait.
So, thanks for coming here today.
We hope that you enjoy your stay!
