A proud Wisconsin presence at NEA ESP conference
3/26/2009 8:00:27 PM
Wisconsin was well represented at the NEA ESP Conference in Orlando, Florida, March 13-15, 2009. The NEA ESP Conference theme was “One Workforce: One Vision, Together for Public Education.”
We, as NEA members, used this opportunity to celebrate a growing membership of more than 500,000 NEA ESP. Close to 50 WEAC members attended the conference to celebrate ESP members, network with our colleagues around the nation, develop their union skills and knowledge at training sessions, and attend the NEA ESP of the Year Award Ceremony.
Wisconsin's 2008 WEAC ESP of the Year, Debbie Martin of the Kettle Moraine School District, was nominated for the 2009 NEA ESP of the Year. Debbie was recognized at the NEA ESP Conference by NEA President Dennis Van Roekel for her efforts supporting public education and her union at the local, state and national levels.
The 2008 NEA ESP of the Year, Laura Vernon of Milwaukee, congratulated this year’s NEA ESP of the Year, Kathie Axtell of Washington.
