Salem Teachers Participate in Triathlon
Twenty-seven staff members from Salem Grade School competed in the Women’s Danskin Triathlon on July 13, 2008, in Pleasant Prairie. Three teachers did the entire triathlon on their own, and the other 24 made up seven teams. Each team consisted of a swimmer, biker and a runner. The bike race was 12 miles, the swim 1/2 mile and the run was 3.1 miles. The educators’ involvement in the event started last summer when nine Salem teachers participated as a team. They inspired other staff members to get involved. Participants said the effort underlined the staff’s commitment to wellness and fitness and brought unity throughout the building.
The participants pictured are (back row, standing, left to right) Vicki Vieu, Judy Power, Debbie Schwartz, Kris Marks, Jen Meier, Melissa Briggs, Sandy Millhouse, Lindsay Bruni and JoAnn Wilson; and (bottom row, kneeling, left to right) Cathy Fischer, Anne Woodward, Jen Mitacek, Barb Holm and Diana Riechers.
