Some see a mess; Student WEA chapter presidents see opportunity.
These Student WEA recruitment and membership boxes, lined up along a
hallway in the WEAC office building, contain materials that will help
chapter presidents reach out to college students who are studying to
become teachers. The boxes contain information about upcoming events,
pocket calendars for members, recruitment ideas for chapter presidents,
and more. Local leaders distribute these materials at meetings, in classes,
and whenever and wherever they see an opportunity to educate future
educators about the value of joining the association. For Student WEA,
every membership year starts with zero members. Last year, leaders recruited
about 1,900 members between September and April. Learn
