Frederic teachers and supporters rally prior to a Frederic School Board meeting March 21. The teachers met for a rally, then attended the board meeting. A representative spoke before the board, and those attending from the community asked that the board negotiate a fair and equitable settlement.

At a March 28 mediation session with a state mediator, the board refused to negotiate, demanding that the teachers either accept the board’s last offer - which contained several significant insurance concessions - or the board would impose a Qualified Economic Offer. The teachers rejected that offer, and the board is now expected to impose the QEO. Frederic teachers said they will continue job actions and efforts to gain public support for a fair and equitable contract settlement. Frederic is about 40 miles west of Rice Lake.
