WEAC General Counsel Bruce Meredith testifies in Washington, D.C. before the Special Committee on Aging May 17. The committee is studying the implications of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission's rules dealing with early retirement insurance plans.

The rule clarifies that offering early retirees health insurance coordinated with Medicare does not violate the Age Discrimination in Employment Act. "The EEOC's final rule is crucial to union efforts to save retiree health benefits for all retirees, but especially for those not yet eligible for Medicare," Meredith testified. Story.
