We celebrated American Education Week in Tomahawk by honoring our support staff (aides, kitchen staff, custodians and bus drivers) with a breakfast at our local McDonald's.  It is difficult to get our support staff together at one time due to the hours that they work so we gave them a coupon good for breakfast when they were able.  Many of the support staff sat down together Wednesday morning and ate their breakfast together!  We also organized "Educator for a Day" on Thursday of American Education Week.  The mayor, police cheif, school board member, bank officers, pastors and other community members spent time (or the whole day) in classrooms K-12!  Some taught lessons others shadowed the classroom teacher and many ate lunch with our students.  It was a wonderful day and lots of positive outcomes for all!!

The Green Bay Education Association's Communications Committee decided to create a 30 second TV ad that ran the week of November 15-21. The purpose of the ad was to promote some positive things about the Green Bay Area School District. Featured in the ad are the committee members. The ad can be viewed on YouTube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ktaVaBY-egg.

The Whitewater Education Association celebrated American Education Week by paying it forward.  As staff enjoyed donuts on Wednesday, they were challenged to donate dollars for the Whitewater Food Pantry.  The Whitewater EA agreed to match funds collected up to $300 in addition to the $150 donation being made in honor of the support staff for the week.  The staff came through in a big way and the Whitewater Education Association was able to make a total donation of $777.62 to support the families and students utilizing the Whitewater Food Pantry!

I am a middle school teacher in the Cuba City School District.  As part of our celebration of American Education Week, our school's student council organized several activities for our staff to honor them.
One day, the members of the student council offered hand massages and mini manicures to the staff after school.
To honor our elementary support staff, the teachers in our building supplied food for a potluck luncheon.
On Thursday morning, the student council members served a pancake breakfast to all staff members, including administration and school board members.
Members of the student council offered their services on Friday to help educators in the building.  They volunteered their time to help tutor struggling students.  They also volunteered time for any teachers who needed help in their classrooms.
Throughout the week, our administration supplied treats such as cheese and sausage trays and a cake.
The celebrations were a great way to show educators and support staff that what they do is important.

Hola.  I am an Early Childhood Exceptional Education Needs Teacher officially for the first year, this current school year.  I will be celebrating this week with my students inviting their parent to come and participate in a morning of stories, activities, snacks, and games in our classroom with their children.  I will be presenting the certificates to my regular education teacher colleagues and my assistant as well as to the parents whom participate on this day of celebration.  Many thanks for the great resources for this day.  Gracias. Adios. Marie...
