The call went out and retired people responded. WEAC-Retired members, retired unionists and retired people of every kind have been present in huge numbers at the Capitol, volunteering in UniServ offices and making their voices heard on their legislators' phone lines and radio call-in shows, and in online news comments and letters to the editor pages.
Congratulations, thank you, and please do not let up.
The place to go for news and information about the budget repair bill and actions related to it is WEAC.org. Go to this link for the latest news.
And you'll find a huge and growing community of people organizing their thoughts and actions and sharing information, photos, and video - as well as messages of support and inspiration - on the WEAC Facebook page. This also is a good time to start using Twitter, where you'll get constant news and activity updates, and "tweets" from people on the front lines of rallies, pickets and other activities. Search for the hashtags #weac and #wiunions for a constant stream of valuable information.
Go here to find out about actions taking place in Madison and communities throughout the state. These are rallies, pickets, public hearings and other events you can participate in and help organize. There are more such activities and events listed on this AFSCME page.
If there are buses running to and from scheduled events that information will be updated here.
Whatever it is that you want to know, the WEAC.org homepage is a good place to start.
And, finally, if you would like an e-mail reminder whenever a new WEAC-Retired blog post goes up, click on the link just to the left that says Subscribe to WEAC-Retired blog by e-mail.
