House Minority Leader John Boehner has said the retirement age should be lifted to 70, and that is pretty easy for someone in his position to say. Talking at press conferences as Boehner does is much easier on the body of a 69 year old than, say, pouring concrete, lifting an engine block or breaking up a fight between a bunch of high school kids.
Our friends at the Alliance for Retired Americans have produced a series of TV ads making fun of Boehner's understanding of the physical aging process. I haven't seen them yet and can't find them online, but our friends at the AFL-CIO have blogged that the ads take a "light-hearted look at the very serious subject of forcing seniors to stay on the job until age 70."
Is this a good time for me to remind you that Boehner will be the House majority leader if Republicans win control of the House on November 2?
