The strength of the Lakewood UniServ lies in the efforts of members working together to accomplish common goals. The Lakewood UniServ (short for Unified Services) is the regional association that represents 2700 members in 13 bargaining units or Chapters (each bargaining unit is under its own contract with their employer) in seven school districts. We provide member organizing and representation assistance to employees at Hamilton, Kettle Moraine, Muskego Norway, Mukwonago, New Berlin, Oconomowoc and Watertown. In addition the UniServ also represents Watertown School District Clericals, Custodians, Food Service and Paraprofessional Aides. New Berlin School District Clericals and Kettle Moraine Paraprofessional Aides are also part of Lakewood. Each affiliated organization sends directors to the UniServ which are proportional in number to their membership and collectively form a Board of Directors that govern our UniServ according to our Constitution and Bylaws. Lakewood is one of 35 geographically based organizations who are in turn affiliated with the Wisconsin Education Association Council (WEAC). Each of the 35 units has its own governance, with members electing officers. Major policy and spending decisions are made at an annual Representative Assembly. UniServs elect one representative for every 1,500 members to serve on the WEAC Board of Directors.

Lakewood UniServ — in financial partnership with WEAC and the National Education Association (NEA) — hires its own staff to assist locals in both professional services and organizing members around collective bargaining, member rights, political and legislative action, and other areas. Your UniServ Director makes on-site visits and, along with your Building Representative and Chapter Officers, will approach you from time to time to participate in union activities. Miguel Salas is assigned to the Hamilton, Kettle Moraine, Mukwonago and Muskego School Districts. Steve Cupery is assigned to the Watertown, Oconomowoc and New Berlin School Districts. Marguerite Keith is the Staff Associate.
