We are all Moving Education Forward

Coming this fall, you’ll be seeing, reading and hearing a new campaign featuring the Everyday Heroes who are Moving Education Forward. The television, print and radio spots to air across the state from WEAC will feature educators in their own schools sharing their own stories of what they do to ensure quality public schools and to build strong communities.

This campaign puts a face on our union of 98,000 educators. Sharing who we are and what we value is a vital component when it comes to advancing a quality agenda for public schools. We are the experts who are best positioned to advocate for students and what they need to be successful. The campaign highlights the many stories of educators making a difference every day in our public schools and how our union supports them in their work. Now more than ever it’s critical to keep educators and their stories at the forefront of discussions of education and ideas for reform, and the campaign is part of a larger effort to keep pace with changing times so our union can effectively advocate for our students and our profession.

The first spots of the new campaign will premiere during American Education Week, November 14-20. Produced in schools all over the state, the educators initially featured will be shown in a documentary-style presentation, with students, parents and colleagues adding their own stories from their time learning from and working with educators.

This effort is an evolution of the Great Schools campaign, which has been used for more than a decade to reach out into our communities. It connects the public with members by showcasing in their own words how educators are elevating their profession by moving education forward. These stories honor all of you – the everyday heroes who educate our future.

And we want to hear from you – how are you moving education forward? The stories being shared as part of the campaign – across television, print and radio spots as well as online and through local and UniServ newsletters – show the unique lives behind public education. Get in touch with your UniServ director or visit weac.org to share your story and tell us how you’re Moving Education Forward.
