Bill Press story
called 'one-sided'

Letter to the Editor

To the News & Views Editor:

I am writing to express my disappointment in the bias of Bill Press being presented regarding Ken Starr without offering the “other side” (News & Views, December 1998).

One of the major issues facing classroom teachers today is honesty. Mr. Starr was appointed to this position by Janet Reno because enough evidence was present to order an investigation. As an educator I deal with children on a regular basis who use word definition as a source for argument and justification. Children who are struggling with moral issues and trying to decide right from wrong. Press does not discuss the issue, rather uses stereotypes and points fingers at some religious group.

What about perjury? What about other professionals who have lost their jobs or sat in jail for inappropriate behavior with a subordinate?

Press is entitled to his opinion, but please present the other side. News & Views is a resource supported by the members’ dues and should respect members’ ability to examine various opinions, mixed with facts, and decide for themselves.
