Senate passes compromise budget bill

6/26/2009 8:57:26 AM

STATE BUDGET UPDATE:

On Thursday night (June 25, 2009), a Senate-Assembly conference committee voted along party lines to approve a compromise state budget crafted by Democratic legislative leaders. On Friday morning, the State Senate voted, 17-15, to approve this final version of the state budget. A vote could take place in the Assembly Friday night. The bill would then go to Governor Doyle for his signature.

One significant feature of the compromise budget is that it repeals the QEO law immediately. An earlier version of the budget initially passed by the Assembly would have delayed QEO repeal until July 2010.
