Union Action Results in Altered Financial Practices

WEAC Summer Academy
The 2008 WEAC Summer Academy is scheduled for July 27 to July 30 in Milwaukee. This year's Academy will feature two training sessions with WTCS-specific break-outs:
During the Crisis Preparedness training, WTCS members will have an opportunity to discuss how issues unique to the college environment impact emergency preparedness. Trainers will include a presenter on the Governor's Taskforce on Campus Security and a staff member from Southwest Wisconsin Technical College, which recently conducted an emergency simulation.
The 2008 Summer Academy bargaining training will feature technical college break-out sessions, during which participants will be presented technical college-specific information. The bargaining session will include a mock bargain and other interactive exercises.
Summer Academy will include a number of networking and social opportunities, including a trip to Miller Park to see the Brewers play the Chicago Cubs on July 28th. The ticket, along with transportation to the game and a tailgate, is included in the cost of the training.
More information and registration is available on the WEAC website.

Effective June 2, 2008, Gateway Technical College began offering an online, on demand accounting program.
The On Demand Accounting program is offered outside the framework of the traditional academic calendar. Students can register for the program at any time during the calendar year. Students begin the program the Wednesday following registration and have 15 weeks to complete their course, but may complete each course early. Each student therefore has an individual 15-week schedule of assignment due dates based on their date of entry.
Ten of Gateway's accounting courses are being offered under this year-round entry format.
