WCTC Board Receives Pro-Union Cards

More than 300 signed, pro-union cards were presented to the WCTC Board at their meeting on August 11. Part-time and full-time faculty and community members, many of whom attended the Workers Rights Board Hearing in June, signified their support for giving the WCTC Part-time Faculty the opportunity to vote on union representation.

The Reverend Tom Yondorf, Brookfield West Unitarian Univeralist Church, presented the signed cards to the WCTC Board. He prevailed on the WCTC Board “to begin working with the union movement, stop using taxpayer money to oppose the union movement, and start paying equal pay for equal work.” Yondorf told the Board that the cards represented “an outward sign of the concern for these issues by the people of the community and college.”

Informational Visits in October

During the first and second weeks in October, October 5–8 and October 12–15, members of the Waukesha County Technical Educators Association (WCTEA) will be visiting all of the WCTC teaching sites. These visits will give you the opportunity to talk directly with union members about the benefits of being organized and represented by a collective bargaining contract. The WCTEA volunteers will be ready to answer your questions and will have printed information available.
