Investment/Retirement Strategies Workshop a Big Success !

Together, WCTC part-time and full-time faculty gained investment and retirement strategies information from WEAC’s Phil Beavers, Certified Financial Planner, when he presented his workshop to an overflow crowd in WCTC’s Commons on May 6.

In a delightfully entertaining manner, Mr. Beavers informed participants about Social Security, the Wisconsin Retirement System, mutual funds, and other investment options. Each participant came away with his/her own financial planning booklet, full of tips, suggestions, and factual information.

Free workshops such as this one are conducted throughout the year around the state as a service to WEAC members and as a benefit of membership in the Wisconsin Education Association Council.

If you were unable to attend this one, don’t despair! We plan to repeat this popular workshop in the Fall.

New Options for the Election

Part -Time United Faculty representatives, along with WCTEA and WEAC reps, have been working with the state agency and the College to determine the appropriate grouping of WCTC faculty, prior to scheduling the election. Additional options are now possible, including the opportunity for you to vote to join the WCTEA. This option, which is now under consideration by all the parties, brings all WCTC faculty together as one united group.

Who Makes up WCTC’s Faculty?

While the numbers fluctuate throughout the school year, as of April, WCTC’s faculty consists of

  • 163 Full Time WCTEA instructors
  • 45 Part-Time WCTEA instructors working over half-time
  • 734 Part-Time/Hourly instructors

YOU and your 733 faculty colleagues are a major component of WCTC. Our goal is to add your voice to ours within WCTC and in Wisconsin’s WTCS community.
