Mark Your Calendars for Recall Movie Nights (or Matinee) - UPDATED
When a Republican Governor’s bill threatens to wipe away worker rights and lock out public debate, six (extra)ordinary citizens join the growing protest at the Wisconsin State Capitol, and spend the next twenty-six days building a movement that not only challenges the bill, but the soul of a nation. On May 1 & 2 the We Are Wisconsin movie premiered at the Toronto Film Festival. It will also be shown in Milwaukee on May 24th and Madison on May 31st.
The BLUE UniServ is proud to have a copy of the 90-minute movie and will be showing it on several dates for our region’s own premiere! Check out the movie trailer.
Please RSVP to the BLUE office to reserve a seat (920-496-2440, 800-472-5582, blue@weac.org) at one of the following showings. Suggested contributions of $10/person will go to We Are Wisconsin’s recall efforts.
>> Wednesday, May 23rd, 6:00 p.m. * NWTC-Sturgeon Bay, Room 147, 229 N. 14th Ave, Sturgeon Bay
>> Tuesday, May 29th, 6:00 p.m. * UA Plumbers and Steamfitters Local 400 * 2700 Northridge Drive, Kaukauna

HOW CAN YOU BRING A VITAL PART OF AMERICAN HISTORY TO YOUR CLASSROOM?
Using films, music, media sources, and materials from the Wisconsin Labor History Society, this class will explore ways to enable students to understand how the struggles of the past directly link to those of today.
After this class, teachers will:
* Deepen their understanding of the links between workers’ struggles of the past and today in Wisconsin.
* Be better acquainted with the field of Labor History and available materials.
* Envision how to develop subjects and themes for their own classrooms.
