Combating Islamophobia: Teaching With Diversity in Mind Seminar
This seminar addressed the current climate of Islamophobia (bigotry and racism towards Muslims) and it’s effect on students, educators, and school curriculum. The marginalization of a particular race, faith community or ethnicity is not a new phenomenon and does not only apply to Muslims; therefore presenters will discuss the role of educators and the importance of curriculum in affirming diversity and the value of all students. The guest speakers are nationally recognized scholars with extensive experience in conducting workshops and seminars for educators. This event took place at the UW-Milwaukee Student Union on Thursday, August 16, 2007. Participants received a certificate of professional development.

Transitions 2008
On April 25th – 26th, the 2008-2009 Student WEA local executive teams met in Stevens Point, WI to transition into their positions. Following the meeting in Stevens Point the 2008-2009 local presidents and state executive team went to Wausau, WI for team building and more preparation for the upcoming year.
