Committees Drive Our Organization
Student WEA is a volunteer organization, and we depend on our volunteers. Committee members are some of our most important volunteers. Committees drive our organization by examining all the important parts, recommending changes, and by carrying through on projects such as a soon to be scholarship offered by the Student WEA.

Student WEA Standing Committees
RA
Reviews and recommends changes in operating policies and procedures.



Public Relations
Reviews and recommends internal/external StWEA public relations activities and StWEA promotional materials needs.



Resolutions
Reviews and recommends resolutions for consideration by the StWEA Board of Directors and the StWEA Representative Assembly.



Career Transitions
Completes projects such as mini resume handbooks and district quick fact books to help make the transition between being Student WEA members and active teachers as unproblematic as possible.



Educational Issues and Professional Development
Keeps current on educational issues and professional development opportunities. Recommends policies, procedures and activities to the StWEA Board of Directors to meet organizational and individual member needs in these areas.



Elections and Credentials
Responsible for certification of delegates and issuance of credentials; presentation of final report on the certification of delegates to the StWEA Representative Assembly before polls open; operation of voting procedures for candidates and Constitution and Bylaw changes; certification of floor ballots, if necessary; enforcement of Standing Rules and Constitution as they relate to delegates and the voting procedures; certification of ballots and issuance of notification for NEA state delegates from Wisconsin for the NEA Representative Assembly in appropriate years.



Governmental Policy
Reviews the governance needs of the Student WEA. Considers members’ suggestions and proposes changes to the Constitution and Bylaws for adoption at the annual StWEA Representative Assembly.



Outreach to Teach
Assists the Outreach to Teach coordinator with anything he/she may need.



Meeting Dates
Student WEA Committees meet three times a year. All of the committee meetings will be held at the WEAC building in Madison (33 Nob Hill, Madison, WI). The meeting dates have been set as follows:
  • Saturday, October 24, 2009
  • Friday, December 4, 2009
  • Friday, February 5, 2010
Many committees also have responsibilities to carry out duties at the annual Student WEA Representative Assembly.

WEAC Committees
Student appointments are also made the WEAC Committees. These committees are considerably different than student committees, and you will be serving with current teacher members. If you are interested in learning more about the WEAC Committees please contact any member of the State Executive Committee.
