Relationship Among the Number and Perceived Impact of Cost-Savings Actions and Student Enrollment, Changes in Enrollment, and District Wealth

There is no significant correlation between the number of cuts per district and district wealth or changes in district enrollment. That is, superintendents from declining enrollment districts or well-to-do districts were no more or less likely to judge a cut as negative than were superintendents from districts with stable or increasing enrollments or districts with higher levels of equalized valuation.

Likewise, judgments about the severity of cuts are unrelated to district wealth (equalized valuation), district size, or changes in student enrollment.
