Commemoration of Bay View Tragedy scheduled for May 6

The 131st anniversary commemoration of the Bay View Tragedy will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday, May 6, 2012, at the Bay View Rolling Mills Historical Marker Site at South Superior St. and East Russell Ave. in Milwaukee.
On May 5, 1886, on the grounds of the Bay View Rolling Mills in Milwaukee, workers marching for the 8‐hour day and carrying banners were fired upon by the state militia. Seven were killed in the state’s bloodiest event involving working people.
