Art association hosts American Story exhibition

Posted: 6/26/2009 9:22:13 AM

Educators are invited to attend the John Michael Kohler Arts Center’s “American Story” Teacher Institute presented with the Wisconsin Art Education Association. It will be held July 30, 2009, 9:30 AM–4:30 PM at the Arts Center in Sheboygan. The exhibition gives voice and vision to the American experience through painting, sculpture, textiles and major site-specific installations. Fifteen artists fuse personal identity and cultural heritage in art that tells a story—the “American Story.” Participants will become immersed into the exhibition through ideas and hands-on activities that can be used in the classroom. Attendees will have the opportunity to reconvene in October to discuss lesson plan implementation and to work with other artists at no additional cost. To register, or to get more information, contact the Arts Center at (920) 458-6144 or e-mail Elsa Lenz Kothe at elenz@jmkac.org. Graduate credit is available through University of Wisconsin-River Falls.
