Wisconsin's First Lady Introduces Online Book Club
First Lady Jessica Doyle has created an online book
club for Wisconsin's students and educators.
Read On Wisconsin will feature six books each month for children ranging
in age from infancy to late teens. The book titles will be posted to
the Read On Wisconsin Web site, where students can return to discuss
the books with others, respond to discussion questions and post reviews.
The First Lady will also participate in reading events throughout the
state. During the events, students can talk about the featured books.
To join the book club, visit http://readon.wisconsin.gov.
After filling out a short registration form, you'll get a sneak peek
at the featured book list for the entire year. Read On Wisconsin members
are also eligible to win classroom packs of books and will be the first
to learn about the First Lady's reading days at the executive residence
in Madison and other Read On Wisconsin events.
September's featured books are:
- Infants: Baby Goes Beep by Rebecca O'Connell.
- Preschool: Jessica by Kevin Henkes.
- Elementary: Two Old Potatoes and Me by John Coy.
- Intermediate: My Name is Maria Isabel by Alma Flor Ada.
- Middle: Seedfolks by Paul Fleischman.
- High: Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson.
